Match Reason

Tax ID or business number matches to company number, including name evidence

Summary

This matching rule determines the best legal entity match when an input record has a tax ID or business number that matches to a company number in the same jurisdiction. This variation of the rule require name evidence for improved precision (there is another suggested match version with no requirement for name match evidence).

This rule uses Matched Attributes (MAs). For additional information, see this article.

Match Logic

Step 1 - Valid Candidates Retrieval

Gather all candidates where both of the conditions below apply:

  • One of the following MA combinations are available:

    • At least one of tax_to_company_number OR business_id_to_company_number is available, along with jurisdiction_country_code.

    • At least one of partial_tax_to_company_number or partial_business_to_company_number is available.

  • At least one of the following MAs is present:

    • legal_name, trading_name, legal_name_starts_with, trading_name_starts_with, legal_name_no_le_suffix, trading_name_no_le_suffix, legal_name_conflicting_le_suffix, trading_name_conflicting_le_suffix, legal_name_no_spaces, trading_name_no_spaces, legal_name_stop_words_removed, trading_name_stop_words_removed, legal_name_single_char_displaced, trading_name_single_char_displaced.

Step 2 - Selecting the Best Match

  • If there is one valid candidate → it gets selected.

  • If there are multiple valid candidates → run a tiebreaker:

    • If there is a single valid candidate that has partial_tax_to_company_number or partial_business_to_company_number, it gets selected.

    • Otherwise, none of the candidates gets selected and the flow ends.
